Last Friday my husband and I packed up our two Coton de Tulear pups, Moose and Eddie, and drove to Asheville, North Carolina, to attend the annual SAFF event. We arrived around 10:30 a.m., put Moose and Eddie in their Doggy Ride stroller, and I headed straight to the fleece and fiber sale. Among the items I purchased this year were some beautiful Corriedale, Teeswater, and Huacaya alpaca. The alpaca is especially outstanding and I look forward to working with it.
The vendors were great this year, representing a large variety of crafts from raw to finished products and everything in between. Of note were the sellers of felting supplies, which seemed to be more prevalent this year. I made a reminder to do more felting myself.
I always look for a unique souvenir to take home, and this year I chose a stoneware mug that was shaped into a delightful and whimsical sheep. Cindy Hart is the crafter of the sheep mugs and other animal shaped pieces. She and her husband Mike both create beautiful pieces at their studio hArtworks Stoneware, Inc. in Liberty, South Carolina. You can find them online at www.hartworksstoneware.com.
I’m sharing a few photos with you of SAFF 2017.
Until next time, remember “There is an artist in you!
